welcome to the central texas pain institute website! pain that persists for more than three to six months is considered chronic pain. at central texas pain institute we specialize in assisting individuals whose chronic pain has not responded to conventional treatments such as bed-rest, medication, physical therapy and surgery. our patients are individuals who, along with their physicians, are seeking an alternative treatment for their unrelenting pain. locations: north austin, south austin, bastrop, georgetown pain often presents itself as low back pain, neck pain, post-operative pain, abdominal pain, joint pain, headaches and pain from cancer. over 40 million americans are disabled by chronic pain. an estimated 20 million americans suffer from migraine headaches. some 70 million are afflicted with back pain. up to 50 million endure the distress of arthritis. chronic pain costs public and private concerns in the united states as much as $70 billion a year. for example, it has been estimated that less than 50% of employees with pain related to back injuries return to work within six months. awareness of the problem of chronic pain has increased dramatically in recent years. our goal is to help patients return to the most functional and productive lifestyle possible.
